We are pleased to announce that the new office building created for Fishtech, a cutting-edge technology firm based in Kansas City, has been nominated for a prestigious 2016 Design Excellence Award from the Kansas City chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). According to the AIA, the Design Excellence Kansas City Awards Program is a “celebration of great architecture that is raising the bar of design both regionally and nationally.”
The 20,000-square foot office structure boasts a contemporary design that mirrors the company’s focus on state-of-the-art digital security. According to BRR Architecture, the concept for the exterior was designed to play up the dramatic contrasts between light and dark, and warm and cool materials and palettes: “A white metal panel box was carved out to reveal the interior office environment, and sits over a glass structure.” Stone blade walls “anchor” the structure.
Interiors are equally contemporary, including vast glass walls that open like garage doors, a full chef’s kitchen, a professional stage with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, and a high-tech lab.
Don Cole, superintendent of the project for A.L. Huber Construction, stated, “It is the most extravagant high tech building I’ve ever worked on in my 20 years,” according to the Martin City Telegraph.
Bell Masonry Inc., as represented by its talented team of stone masons and its CEO Matt Bell, is proud to be a member of the design team for Fishtech’s stunning new headquarters in downtown, KC, in collaboration with A.L. Huber Construction Company and the award-winning local architecture firm BRR Architecture.
